Chat history is retained to facilitate ongoing legal communication and is accessible only to the participating User and Lawyer, subject to applicable law and our internal access controls.

Users and Lawyers may upload documents such as:

  • Property Documents

  • Contracts

  • Supporting Evidence

  • Other files relevant to legal consultations

We process such documents solely for operating the consultation services and related support functions.

G. Wallet & Transaction Information

  • Wallet Balance

For security reasons, Legal Ears does not intentionally store complete payment card details where payments are processed by regulated payment service providers.

  • State Bar Council registration details

  • Identity verification documents

  • PAN details

  • Bank account information for settlements

  • Educational qualifications

  • Areas of legal practice

  • Professional biography

  • Years of experience

  • Languages spoken

  • Availability schedule

  • Office location

  • Consultation fee

  • Profile photograph

  • Verification documents

  • Tax information, where required by law

Legal Ears may periodically request updated information to maintain accurate records and comply with legal or regulatory requirements.

7. KYC & VERIFICATION INFORMATION

7.1 Lawyer Verification

To maintain the integrity and reliability of the Platform, Legal Ears may collect and process Know Your Customer ("KYC") and professional verification information from Lawyers.

Such information may include, without limitation:

  • Advocate Enrollment Certificate;

  • State Bar Council registration details;

  • Government-issued identity documents (such as Aadhaar, Passport, Driving Licence, or Voter ID, where voluntarily provided and permitted by law);

  • Permanent Account Number (PAN);

  • Bank account details for settlement of earnings;

  • Selfie or live identity verification;

  • Educational qualifications;

  • Certificates and professional credentials;

  • Practice address and office details; and

  • Any additional information reasonably required to verify identity or professional eligibility.

The collection and processing of such information are undertaken solely for onboarding, identity verification, fraud prevention, compliance with applicable laws, payment processing, dispute resolution, and maintaining trust and safety on the Platform.

7.2 User Verification

Where necessary, Legal Ears may request Users to verify their identity for purposes including:

  • fraud prevention;

  • payment verification;

  • account recovery;

  • suspicious account activity;

  • compliance with applicable laws;

  • investigation of complaints or disputes.

Verification may require submission of identity documents or other information reasonably requested by Legal Ears.

7.3 Accuracy of Information

Users and Lawyers are responsible for ensuring that all information submitted to Legal Ears is accurate, complete, current, and not misleading.

Legal Ears reserves the right to request updated documentation where previously submitted information becomes outdated, inaccurate, or unverifiable.

8. CONSULTATION INFORMATION

Legal Ears collects limited consultation-related information necessary to operate the Platform and facilitate services.

Such information may include:

  • consultation date and time;

  • consultation duration;

  • lawyer consulted;

  • consultation status;

  • wallet deductions;

  • payment references;

  • appointment details;

  • consultation category;

  • practice area;

  • technical metadata associated with the consultation.

Legal Ears does not create legal summaries or analyse the substance of consultations for commercial purposes.

9. VIDEO CONSULTATION PRIVACY

Legal Ears recognises that legal consultations involve highly confidential discussions.

Accordingly:

  • Video consultations are not recorded by Legal Ears.

  • Legal Ears does not store copies of video consultations.

  • Consultation recordings are not made available to either party through the Platform.

Limited Live Monitoring

To protect Users, Lawyers, and the integrity of the Platform, authorised personnel may conduct limited live monitoring only where reasonably necessary for:

  • fraud prevention;

  • user safety;

  • quality assurance;

  • technical support;

  • investigation of reported misconduct;

  • compliance with applicable law.

Such monitoring is conducted under strict confidentiality obligations and only to the extent reasonably necessary for these legitimate purposes.

Legal Ears does not monitor consultations for advertising, profiling, or commercial exploitation.

10. CHAT & MESSAGING PRIVACY

Legal Ears provides an in-platform messaging system to facilitate communication between Users and Lawyers.

The messaging system may be used for:

  • appointment scheduling;

  • pre-consultation discussions;

  • follow-up communication;

  • sharing legal documents;

  • clarification of legal issues.

Confidentiality

Messages are intended solely for the participating User and Lawyer.

Legal Ears implements access controls designed to restrict access to chat content. Access by authorised personnel may occur only where reasonably necessary for:

  • resolving technical issues;

  • responding to support requests;

  • investigating reported misconduct;

  • complying with legal obligations; or

  • protecting the security and integrity of the Platform.

Chat Retention

Chat history may be retained to:

  • maintain consultation continuity;

  • support ongoing legal discussions;

  • facilitate account history;

  • investigate disputes;

  • comply with applicable law.

Chats remain accessible only to the participating User and Lawyer through their respective accounts, subject to applicable law and Platform policies.

11. DOCUMENT SHARING

Users and Lawyers may voluntarily upload documents relevant to legal consultations.

These may include:

  • contracts;

  • notices;

  • agreements;

  • pleadings;

  • court documents;

  • property records;

  • identity documents;

  • evidence;

  • correspondence;

  • photographs; and

  • other consultation-related files.

Legal Ears processes these documents solely for:

  • enabling consultations;

  • facilitating secure sharing between Users and Lawyers;

  • providing technical support;

  • complying with legal obligations; and

  • maintaining the functionality and security of the Platform.

Users should avoid uploading documents that are unrelated to their legal matter or contain unnecessary personal information.

12. COOKIES & SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES

The Legal Ears website may use cookies and similar technologies to improve functionality and user experience.

Cookies may be used for purposes including:

  • authentication;

  • maintaining login sessions;

  • remembering user preferences;

  • website security;

  • analytics;

  • performance measurement;

  • detecting fraudulent activity.

Users may manage cookie preferences through their browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect the availability or functionality of some Platform features.

To facilitate consultations, Legal Ears may share limited information between the participating User and Lawyer, including:

  • Profile photograph (if provided)

  • City and State

  • Consultation history between the parties

  • Documents voluntarily shared

  • Chat messages

  • Appointment details

We do not disclose sensitive identity verification documents of either party unless required by law or with the individual's consent.

15.2 Payment Service Providers

To process wallet recharges, consultation payments, refunds, and lawyer settlements, Legal Ears may share necessary transaction information with regulated payment service providers.

Such information may include:

  • Transaction ID

  • Amount

  • Payment status

  • Wallet reference

  • Bank details (where applicable)

Payment card information is processed by the payment service provider in accordance with its own privacy and security standards. Legal Ears does not intentionally store complete debit or credit card details.

15.3 Technology Service Providers

We may engage trusted third-party service providers to support Platform operations, including:

  • Cloud hosting

  • Data storage

  • Content delivery

  • Push notifications

  • Authentication

  • Fraud detection

16. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

The Platform may integrate with or rely upon third-party services, including but not limited to:

Users and Lawyers are responsible for safeguarding their account credentials and devices.

18. ENCRYPTION

Legal Ears uses appropriate encryption technologies to help protect personal information during transmission and, where applicable, while stored.

Where technically feasible and supported by the underlying communication infrastructure, consultations and messages are transmitted using secure communication protocols.

Users should nevertheless exercise caution when using public Wi-Fi networks or unsecured devices.

19. DATA RETENTION

Legal Ears retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • provide the Platform;

  • maintain account functionality;

  • comply with legal obligations;

  • resolve disputes;

  • investigate fraud;

  • enforce our agreements;

  • protect legal rights.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and applicable legal requirements.

When information is no longer required, Legal Ears will delete, anonymise, or securely dispose of it, unless continued retention is required or permitted by law.

  • Request correction of inaccurate information.

Users and Lawyers may request deletion of their account through the Platform or by contacting our support team.

Upon receiving a valid request, Legal Ears will review the request and, where appropriate:

  • deactivate the account;

  • delete or anonymise personal information that is no longer required; and

  • retain only such information as is necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, or enforce our agreements.

Deletion of an account does not automatically require deletion of all records where retention is mandated or permitted by law.

22. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Legal Ears is intended for individuals who have attained the age of majority and are legally capable of entering into binding agreements.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If Legal Ears becomes aware that personal information of a child has been collected in violation of applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to delete such information as soon as practicable.

Parents or legal guardians who believe that a child has provided personal information to Legal Ears may contact us using the details provided in this Privacy Policy.

23. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Legal Ears primarily operates in India.

Where personal information is processed or stored outside India by trusted service providers, Legal Ears will take reasonable measures to ensure that appropriate safeguards are implemented in accordance with applicable law.

Such transfers shall occur only where necessary for providing the Platform or fulfilling legal and operational requirements.
